Since PDF format was developed from a printer language, most PDF creators are presented as a printer. You may find dozens of paid PDF printers on the Internet. Now, I’d like to have simple reviews for some free PDF creators to help you choose a proper tool to convert comprehensive files, like MS Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spread sheets, images, CAD files and so on, to PDF.

All free PDF creators introduced in this article are installed as printer drivers. When you want to save a document as a PDF file, you go to File > Print, just as if you were going to print the document with a printer. However, instead of your normal printer, select the printer that I introduced below instead. When you hit print, it will prompt you for asking an output location and the tool will convert the document to PDF file for you!

1. Nitro Primo – the most popular XXX to PDF tools in the world. Primo PDF allows you to convert any printable document to PDF. After you select Primo PDF as your printer, you will see the interface as below. With this simple interface you can set properties and password for your document. Then a PDF document is available for you.
The key advantage of Primo PDF is that you can add document information and security your documents. Primo PDF maintains the original layout and format EXCEPT the hyperlinks in web pages. And if you convert web pages containing flash, the conversion result may have some objections.

 

2. CCPDF Converter The CCPDF Converter enables you to create PDF files from almost any printable files. Open your files and select CCPDF Converter as your printer, then rename and save your PDF files.
CCPDF Converter optimizes the converted document size greatly, which is convenience for the users to share their documents. But all hyperlinks in web pages will be discarded in the output files.

3. Cute PDF Writer CutePDF Writer also installs itself as a "printer subsystem". Cute PDF Writer is a widely used PDF converter.
CutePDF creates PDF quickly. But the hyperlinks in Excel and web pages will not be retained after conversion. Besides, before you install CutePDF Writer, PS2PDF converter such as Ghostscript is required.

4. doPDF Similar with the tools above, just select doPDF as your printer, the tool will convert the printable documents to PDF files. Different with other tools, doPDF will increase your document size after conversion. And no hyperlinks remain in your PDF files that created from web pages.

5. Docuprinter Provided by Neevia Technology, Docuprinter enables you to convert your office document to PDF file by using the print command. There two ways for you to perform conversion.
One way is to double click the shortcut key, import the destination document, then, you can use the command of watermark and configure output to customize your output.





 

The other way is to open the files and print it by using Docuprienter, you can also customize the result by setting watermark and configure output..
The PDF creator offers you flexibly choices to optimize your output. But the interface is not friendly enough. And you can’t convert the files of .jpg,.jpeg to PDF files.
